BOSTON WPP Group is considering the merger of two of its public relations firms: GCI Group and Cohn & Wolfe, sources said.

“WPP and Grey are always looking at these types of things,” said Bob Feldman, CEO of GCI in New York. “It would be incorrect to report any kind of decision was made.”

An announcement about the merger of the two shops is expected on Friday, sources said. Sources have also speculated that if the two shops do in fact merge, the GCI brand would likely be folded into Cohn & Wolfe.
