NEW YORK H&R Block will pass on the Super Bowl next year, marking the first time since 2002 the accounting and tax preparation firm hasn’t advertised during the big game.

In a statement, Brad Iversen, client svp and CMO, said the game’s date—a week later than last year—prompted the decision. “In a four-month window of opportunity, one week can make a significant difference in reaching the right person at the right time,” he said. The game will be held on Feb.
