NEW YORK Pop musician and singer Michelle Branch is taking part in a promotion for Kohl’s Department Stores in which she will give a free concert at the school of a Kohl’s shopper who draws the winning code in the “Ticket to Win” event, the company said.

The promotion started July 29 and runs through Aug. 15. Consumers can enter the contest by obtaining “instant-win” games pieces at Kohl’s stores or newspaper ads and then visiting an in-store kiosk to decode the prize message.

Branch’s concert is the grand prize. Other prizes include tickets to see the Grammy award winner in concert at other tour venues.

In a statement, Julie Gardner, Kohl’s senior vice president of marketing, said, “We’re excited to partner with Michelle Branch and to offer unique prizes for our shoppers. Offering a free concert by one of the most popular and talented performers is Kohl’s way of celebrating the new back-to-school season.”

Interpublic Group’s McCann Erickson in New York handles advertising for Kohl’s, which is based in Menomonee Falls, Wis. The “Ticket to Win” promotion was conceived and is being executed by McCann WorldGroup’s event marketing arm, Momentum.
