PR Week Releases All Your Emails...And Passwords Too!
Are you one of PR Week’s subscribers who are receiving tons of emails today thanks to a technical screw up that has resulted in subscribers receiving both the emails and passwords of others?
It all began yesterday with a simple email:
A new enhanced PRWeekJobs site is relaunching in February. As an existing user of PRWeekJobs we would therefore urge you to upload your resume immediately at prweekus.com/ipod using the following account details:
User Name: [REDACTED]
Password: [REDACTED]
This will not only ensure your resume is accessible to the most elite PR and communications companies in the industry but also offer the chance to win a new iPod Classic®.
Kind Regards,
Natalie Morales

That resulted in tons and tons of emails being sent out, with all the subscribers included in a CC line. We’ve cut and pasted all the emails into Microsoft Word, shrunk them to 8-pt font and tried to screen capture the whole entire thing (not easy…which tells you how many there were):
Then, the apology:

Dear [REDACTED]
Earlier this afternoon you may have received several emails containing account information for the new PRWeekJobs.com website. Please disregard these emails since it was due to an error in an email generation tool. This was identified quickly and these passwords were changed immediately to make sure your new account is still secure. You will receive a follow up email with your new login information.
We apologize for any inconvenience.
Well, that’s all well and good, but you happen to use that same password for other online accounts, now you have to change all of them…
