CHICAGO Interpublic Group’s Carmichael Lynch has merged its interactive and relationship marketing units into one division, CL Interactive and Direct.

Melody Lentsch, the Minneapolis shop’s former director of interactive, will head up the unit as director of CL ID. The shop also hired Bruce Marsh, formerly creative director at Euro RSCG in New York, as creative director of CL ID.

“The most successful marketing campaigns are equal parts smart and daring,” said Lentsch in a statement. “Smart because they fill a consumer need and help clients achieve their goals. Daring because they break through the clutter and are more memorable. We’re pushing each other to be both, every time.”

Lentsch will report to CL president John Colasanti, while Marsh will report to CL CCO Jack Supple.
