Apple Lets Publishers Sell Subscriptions via News App

A nice update.

The new version of Apple News comes with a welcome change for media outlets: They can now sell subscriptions through the app.

According to The Wall Street Journal, Apple News users can currently sign up for subscriptions to The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, the Economist, National Geographic, Time, People, Cosmopolitan, Fast Company, the Los Angeles Times and the Chicago Tribune. Apple will add more publishers to that list soon.

As part of the new Apple News deal, Apple gets 30 percent of the revenue from new subscriptions and 15 percent from renewed subscriptions.
