NEW YORK Warren Pfaff, 74, an actor turned adman, died March 10 at the Rosenthal Hospice Center in Stamford, Conn. The cause was lung cancer.

Pfaff helped create the long-running Pan American Airways ad campaign of the 1960s. “Get out of the country, get into this world … Pan Am makes the going great” was the campaign tagline

He crafted the lyrics to the McDonald’s jingle that ran with the line, “We’re so near and far away, so get up and get away, to McDonald’s,” and later was revised to “You deserve a break today, so get up and get away to McDonald’s.”
