CHICAGO Internet service provider Earthlink has parted with Publicis Groupe shop Leo Burnett and will seek a new agency to handle its creative chores, sources said.

The move had been expected, as Chicago-based Burnett absorbed Earthlink creative agency LB Works in December. In addition, the Atlanta company’s contract expired last month, sources said.

A client representative declined to comment, as did Burnett officials.

Earthlink spent $100 million on ads last year, according to Nielsen Monitor-Plus. About $50 million of that was spent on broadcast media, the rest on print and direct marketing efforts. Incumbent buying and planning agency, independent Horizon Media in New York, remains on the client’s roster, sources said.
