China (Again) Jails The Most Journalists

Maybe don't go there.

For the second consecutive year, The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) found that China imprisoned the most journalists. In 2014, CPJ reported that China jailed 44 journalists. This year the country outdid itself, putting a record 49 journalists behind bars.

China’s efforts to stifle the press aside, things did improve globally in 2015. There were a total of 199 journalists imprisoned this year, down from 221 last year. Smoke ’em if you got ’em!

Egypt, determined to escape (no pun intended) China’s shadow, has emerged as a real threat to freedom of the press.
