Jim Jordan, who helped craft some of the best-known campaigns in a career that spanned five decades, died last Wednesday while snorkeling in the U.S. Virgin Islands. He was 73. At BBDO in New York, he branded Schaefer as “The one beer to have when you’re having more than one.” In 1978, he formed the New York agency that eventually became Jordan, McGrath, Case & Taylor. He retired in 1995. Jordan is survived by his wife, Mary Helen; four daughters and three sons (including Gotham managing partner Michael Jordan and J.J. Jordan, owner of the Branding Iron in Irvington, N.Y.); and 11 grandchildren.
