The Star-Ledger to Offer Buyouts
Newark, New Jersey’s Star-Ledger will offer volunteer buyouts to full-time, non-represented employees that joined prior to January 1, 2006, reports Editor & Publisher.
There’s no word on how many buyouts will be offered, but as E&P points out, the paper expects to lose $10 million in 2010, and that’s off a $9 million hit in 2009.
“Obviously, losses of this magnitude are unsustainable,” according to a memo obtained by E&P, written by Star-Ledger Publisher Richard Vezza. The number of buyouts offered “will depend on who applies and from what departments.
