Bruce Nauman Going to Venice and More Newsy Moves

America, your 2009 Venice Biennale artist representative is Bruce Nauman. The State Department’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs selected him following the unanimous recommendation of the Federal Advisory Committee on International Exhibitions. Philadelphia Museum of Art curators Carlos Basualdo and Michael Taylor will serve as the U.S. Commissioners and will organize the exhibition from the museum. This all comes as particularly swell news for Nauman’s New York gallery, Sperone Westwater, which opens an exhibition of the artist’s drawings next Tuesday, meaning that you have through Saturday to catch the gallery’s current exhibition of delicious paintings by Julian Schnabel.
