NEW YORK Casio, a maker of sports watches and digital cameras, has hired a consultancy to conduct a search for an ad agency, a client representative confirmed. Billings on the account are estimated at $5-10 million.

Roth Associates in New York is managing the process, and the incumbent, rotter-kantor in New York, will be invited to defend, the rep said. The Dover, N.J., client hopes to select an agency by the end of November.

Major media spending on the watch and camera brands was about $3 million in 2002 and roughly $1.5 million from January to July of this year, according to Nielsen Monitor-Plus.
