DALLAS Steve Hanson, Shell’s svp of motor oil brand marketing, is leaving his post Friday, according to Hanson.

The move follows the Houston-based company’s decision to split the position into two posts—one to manage global advertising of the lubricants business, and one to oversee regional marketing.

Although Hanson, 46, was offered the advertising position, he said, “I didn’t want to take a diminished job. … I liked running both.”

Last month, Andrew Hayes joined Shell to oversee global advertising and strategy as chief marketing officer.
