A Hollywood PR Legend Passes On

How’s this for a seamless transition from entertainment journalism to the Hollywood publicity ranks?

Per an obit in The Hollywood ReporterDale Olson – who passed away Thursday in Burbank at age 78 after a long battle with cancer – started out in 1956 as west coast editor for Box Office magazine. Then, after moving on to Daily Variety, he segued in the mid-1960s to the Mirisch Corp.:

His first assignment was for In the Heat of the Night (1967), which won five Oscars, including Best Picture.
