Gerry Rich, Marketing Golden Boy, Says See Ya to Paramount

Gerry Rich, who orchestrated marketing campaigns for “Transformers,” “Iron Man” and the latest “Indiana Jones” incarnation, became the latest casualty of the Paramount down-sizing of its marketing staff.

Last June, Paramount consolidated the marketing, distribution and physical production departments of Paramount Vantage into the larger studio. The shift brought Vantage marketing chiefs Josh Greenstein and Megan Colligan into the studio fold and created a power struggle.

Only a few know the real story, but Rich supposedly asked to be let out of his contract. Insiders thought it was the outcome of a bitter turf battle with Greenstein and Colligan, who were immediately named by Paramount vice chairman Rob Moore to replace Rich.

In true studio fashion, Moore painted a smiling picture of the turmoil.

“He leaves us in great hands with a fantastic team that we expect to continue bringing the quality and imagination that you’ve seen for the past three years,” Moore said.

Rich, who has been a fixture for the last three years, will leave the Paramount lot at the end of August.
