NEW YORK Mezzina Brown & Partners said it has promoted chief operating officer Mark Morrissey to chief executive officer.

Shop co-founder Bill Brown will relinquish his management responsibilities to focus on a new, undisclosed “agency-related” venture.

Morrissey was the New York agency’s first major recruit in 1991, the year the shop was founded. He joined Mezzina Brown from Young & Rubicam, where as vice president, account services he was responsible for brands such as AT&T, Manufacturers Hanover and RJR Nabisco.
