FishbowlLA EXCLUSIVE: Karl Marx said that history repeats itself, “first as tragedy, second as farce.” Dialectical materialism may not be the strong suit of New Line Cinema production chief Toby Emmerich , but he is nonetheless readying a comedic remake of 1998’s highest grossing film, “Armageddon.”
Entitled “Armagedd-again: The Day Before Tomorrow,” the comedy already has interest from original “Armageddon” star Bruce Willis , who’s in discussions with the studio. This time, though, Willis is apparently considering playing the president of the United States, one who must simultaneously contend with a looming alien invasion, a planet-smashing asteroid and a dawning Ice Age by sending a team of highly trained stereotypes into space.
