Advance Auto Parts Names Pair of Finalists

CHICAGO—Two agencies have progressed in the re-view for Advance Auto Parts’ $50-60 million account, according to sources. Cramer-Krasselt in Orlando, Fla., and Fogarty Klein Monroe in Houston will continue competing for the Roanoke, Va.-based automotive chain’s advertising business. Semifinalists in the review included Barkley Evergreen & Partners in Kansas City, Mo., Fletcher Martin Ewing in Atlanta and Martin/Williams in Minneapolis. A decision is expected this month. The Richmond, Va.-based incumbent, The Martin Agency, was not involved in the competition.

C.C. Rigg’s Createathon to Benefit Nonprofits

ATLANTA—Twelve South Carolina nonprofit organizations will be the beneficiaries of no-cost advertising and marketing services underwritten by C.C. Rigg’s in its fifth annual Createathon. Kicking off with a 24-hour creative blitz on Sept. 19, the staff of the Columbia, S.C., agency, in conjunction with Crowson Stone Printing, is expected to complete between 20-25 communications projects in three days. Among the beneficiaries: the South Carolina Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy, the Nancy K. Perry Children’s Shelter, Camp Adam Fisher, the James R. Clark Memorial Sickle Cell Foundation, the Special Olympics of South Carolina and Providence Home. Rigg’s public-service outreach program has gone national. This year more than 20 agencies across the country have agreed to hold similar marathon benefits in their respective communities.

Media Dynamite Opens Doors in Atlanta

ATLANTA—Media Dynamite, a full-service media company, has been established in Atlanta. Principals Mike Krasney and Courtney Hoffman are hoping a combination of big-agency expertise and personal attention to details will uncover a market niche overlooked by the “hundred-million-dollar media services.” The agency also provides creative concept management, direct-response advertising, promotions, and media tracking and analysis.

CVS Considers 4 Agencies in Media Review

BOSTON—Four finalists made presentations last week to executives from pharmacy chain CVS, which has been reviewing the media portion of its its $35 million account, according to sources. In the hunt are Hill,Holliday, Connors, Cosmopulos of Boston, which won the CVS creative account in June after a separate review, and New York shops MediaCom, Mediaedge:cia and Zenith Media, sources said. The agencies and the client either did not return calls or declined comment. A decision is expected as soon as this week. Woonsocket, R.I.-based CVS placed its media planning and buying in play in July. The move was made after the media operations and accounts of incumbent Bates in New York were folded into Optimedia, a joint venture of Cordiant Communications and Publicis Group. Pile and Co. in Boston is conducting the current search.
