NEW YORKThe Meow Mix Co. awarded its $15 million integrated communications account to Kirshenbaum Bond & Partners in New York. Agency divisions Lime, The Media Kitchen and Dotglu will handle media planning and buying, public relations, promotions, guerrilla marketing, interactive and Web design for Secaucus, N.J.-based Meow Mix. The cli ent, which was for merly owned by Ralston Purina Co., was founded in February. It is now owned by J.W. Childs Associated, a Boston-based investment firm that also owns The Hartz Mountain Corp. The shop has offices in New York and San Francisco.Masius won Guardian Life Insurance Co. of America's ad account. The agency, which specializes in corporate, technology and business marketing, is part of Bcom3's D'Arcy Masius Benton & Bowles network. MediaVest was tapped to handle the client's media planning and buying. Manning Selvage & Lee has done public relations work for Guardian since March 2001. The consolidated account is worth more than $6 million. The client, a provider of life insurance, group-health and dental benefits, retirement services and financial planing, is based in New York. Masius has offices in New York and London. The Research Business International, known as TRBI, opened offices in New York and Oakbrook, Ill. The London-based company, a strategic qualitative-research firm, conducts research on consumers' relationships with brands. TRBI is a unit of Maritz Research, a St. Louis-based custom-marketing-research firm.September Productions launched Lunch tv, a New York-based commercial-production company. The new entity's directors include E.J. Foerster, Steven Shainberg and Neil Salley. September Productions is a New York-based production company.Sacred Noise composers David Gennaro and Peter Rundquist scored a campaign for San Marcos, Texas-based home-improvement-store chain McCoy's. The cam paign, which consists of three 30- second spots, was created by McGarrah Jessee in Austin, Texas. "Aisles," "Em ployee" and "Truck" were directed by David McNamara of Maysles Shorts in New York. Sacred Noise is a New York-based music- and sound-design house. Blass Communications, an Old Chatham-based marketing-communications com pany, was named a finalist in seven categories of the Ad Club's 29th Annual NORI Awards. The agency was nominated in the Print Advertising—Consu mer News paper, Campaign and Out-of-Home—Outdoor Board, Campaign categories for the advertising and marketing campaign it created for The Sterling & Fran cine Clark Art Institute. Blass was also recognized in the Print Advertising—Consumer Newspaper, Single Ad and Print Advertising—Consumer Newspaper, Campaign categories for a print campaign it created for The Norman Rockwell Museum. The shop's print campaign for the Clariant Master batches Division of Clariant Interna tional was nominated under Print Advertising—Trade/Industrial Publication. Its newly redesigned self-promotional Web site is a finalist under Interactive Media—Web site, Business-to-Business. The Environmental Stewardship Award Blass developed for GreenEarth Cleaning was nominated in the Public Relations Campaign cate gory. The NORI Awards ceremony will take place in Albany on April 26.Verizon Communications hired IMG Consulting, the New York-based corporate-advisory practice of IMG, to manage its sponsorship requirements. IMG will handle the day-to-day functions of Verizon's sponsorship properties, promotions and activ ity scheduling, as well as act as a liaison between the client and its sponsorship organizations. IMG is a Cleveland-based sports-management and marketing agency. NEW JERSEYSmith Design Associates, a Glen Ridge-based branding and design firm, created the brand identity and designed the packaging for Mott's new Fruit Blasters. The product is flavored apple sauce packaged in individual tubes. Flavors include Bur stin' Berry Blue, Kickin' Strawberry Kiwi, Fruit Punch Frenzy and Ch-Ch-Cherry. Mott's is a Stamford, Conn.-based subsidiary of London-based Cadbury Schweppes.The Gray Matter Group added the following clients to its roster: Hackensack-based KIA Heavy Industries, which manufactures machine tools for the metalworking industry; Old Tappan-based Orthosonix, which makes and distributes electromedical therapeutic devices; Hawthorne-based Ulma Form Works, which develops and manufactures custom and standard concrete-forming equipment; San Francisco-based Custom Diversification Fund Management, a financial-services company; Butler-based Generant, which manufactures valves for medical and industrial applications; and Mount Vernon, N.Y.-based Erik Lighting, which specializes in retail and industrial lighting. The Gray Matter Group is a Maywood-based advertising and marketing agency.The MWW Group was hired by TSE Sports and Entertainment to increase its brand aware ness in the sports- and enter tainment-marketing industry. The New York-based client is a sports-and entertainment-marketing and consulting firm that specializes in corporate hospitality, meeting and event planning, sponsorship representation, corporate consulting, sales, promotions and sweepstakes, and athlete/celebrity marketing. MWW is an East Rutherford-based public relations and marketing agency. It is an independent brand of Golin/Harris International. PENNSYLVANIALancaster-based Orbit Creative was named Kunzler & Co.'s advertising agency. The client is a Lancaster-based manufacturer of meat products, including hot dogs. The shop is responsible for Kunzler's adver tising, Web design, promotions, public relations, collateral material and media buying. Orbit's first assignment is to launch a broadcast campaign to promote the company's products. Direct response agency DMW designed and created the call for entries for the Direct Marketing Association's International Echo Awards. The Wayne-based shop's mailer is a pop-up cube with psychedelic graphics. The awards event will be held in San Francisco from Oct. 19-23. Creativity in Practice, a division of Saatchi & Saatchi Healthcare Resources Group, was named advertising agency for Berwyn-based Dermik Laboratories' Dermatop. The product is a midpo tency topical corti costeroid for dermatitis and eczema. The Langhorne-based shop handles adver tising, marketing and promotional work for pharmaceutical products and healthcare services.
