Like much else in life, fear is unevenly distributed. This fact has taken on a fresh significance since Sept. 11. As polling data has accumulated in the weeks since then, it’s become clear that women are collectively more fearful than men about the terrorist peril. A CBS News poll conducted the evening of Sept. 11 found half of women very concerned about a possible terrorist attack where they live, while just over one-third of men felt the same.
