Can the Concept of a Freelance System Work?

While I agree in theory with Jef Loeb’s notion [“Give Me Liberty,” Art & Commerce, July 30] that a freelance “system” might give companies the chance to benefit from great creative minds, there is a major flaw in his plan. It ignores the value of agency/client relationships.

Why would my client want to pay more for freelancers who don’t know anything about their industry and who will probably move on to the next award-winning opportunity in short order? To be even more frank, I don’t want anyone working on my client’s business who cannot speak intelligently about it, period.
