Woodbine Recruits Ad Veteran

Leaders from Glossier, Shopify, Mastercard and more will take the stage at Brandweek to share what strategies set them apart and how they incorporate the most valued emerging trends. Register to join us this September 23–26 in Phoenix, Arizona.

Peter Mitchell has been named vice president and director of account development at The Woodbine Agency.

He joins the $20 million Winston-Salem, N.C., shop three months after his departure from crosstown agency Mullen/LHC.

Mitchell, 43, was one of three senior executives who left Long Haymes Carr in January, when the Interpublic Group merged that agency with Wenham, Mass.-based Mullen [Adweek, Jan. 22].

It was reading of Mitchell’s availability in Adweek that caused Woodbine president Maureen Hall to approach the ex-LHC staffer.

“He consulted with us for six weeks,” she said. “Peter will put us on the radar. You wouldn’t have called us if we hadn’t hired him.”

Prior to joining Long Haymes Carr last October, Mitchell worked at Saatchi & Saatchi in New York, where he was executive vice president and group account di-rector. At Saatchi, he oversaw the brand accounts of General Mills, Reynolds Metals and Procter & Gamble.

“Woodbine has a reputation for design, brand identity and point-of- purchase work,” said Mitchell. “My feeling is that there’s an opportunity to build a strong number two challenger brand in the Winston-Salem area.”
