– FLORIDA
Spiro & Waites Adver-tising, Marketing & Public Relations has won two Florida Economic Development Council awards for work done on behalf of the City of Cape Coral Economic Development Office. The Fort Myers shop also has expanded its space and now occupies two floors at its Corporate Court location.
C. Del Galloway, executive vice president and chief operating officer of Husk Jennings Communications in Jacksonville, has been elected to serve on the board of the Public Relations Society of America as a director at large.
Discover Resorts has named Yesawich, Pepperdine & Brown in Orlando its advertising and public relations agency. Based in Scottsdale, Ariz., Discover Resorts is a lodging marketing and hospitality services company. Its core business involves luxury resort management.

Ockham Technologies, a developer of Web-based software for sales management applications, has hired Socket Public Relations to help market its programs and services. Both firms are based in Atlanta.
Jack & Associates in Marietta won two awards from the International Associ-ation of Fairs & Expositions for its work with the North Georgia State Fair. J&A also tallied four Professionalism Awards from the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association and the Sales and Marketing Council for its efforts with several residential communities.

The Gillespie Agency in Columbia has won a Palmetto Award from the state’s chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators. An image brochure for Benjamin Covington Furniture Makers was the winning entry.

– TENNESSEE
Thompson & Company recently received a Best of the Best Award and a certificate of excellence at the Bank Marketing Association’s 1999 advertising competition. The Memphis agency was honored for its print advertisements for First Tennessee’s Bravo Program.
