Billboards For The Birds

It’s nothing new to see a flock of pigeons parking it for a few minutes on an outdoor board, but a handful of signs were recently erected in the North Carolina communities of High Point and Greensboro with 27 birds already attached.
The billboard concept was created by Howard, Merrell & Partners in Raleigh, N.C., for client Auto Allies, a car-buying service. The larger-than-life faux fowl sit atop the advertisement with the claim that “only these guys find a car faster.”
“Putting our pigeons on top of the board seemed like a natural thing to do since that is where you’re normally going to see birds like these,” said agency art director Scott Ballew. “We wanted something that would catch people’s eyes, which is what you need for a quick-read message on an outdoor board.”
