- Sides to Meet June 13-14 Over Actors Strike LOS ANGELES--A meeting has been set for June 13 and 14 for negotiations among federal mediators, advertiser groups and the unions representing commercial actors regarding the ongoing actors strike. Representatives from the Screen Actors Guild, the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, the Association of National Advertisers and the American Association of Advertising Agencies will meet in New York to seek a possible settlement on the month-long strike. - Southeast, Southwest Shops Chase Studios LOS ANGELES--Fahlgren, Moroch & Associates and Allied Advertising are all eagerly pursuing 20th Century Fox's Southeast publicity and promotions business. Fox, the last of the major Hollywood movie studios operating in the region, is pulling out in July. Its $4 million promotion budget will be placed at the Atlanta office of one of the three competing agencies. In Dallas, meanwhile, Moroch has lost the $6-7 million regional account of DreamWorks to Allied. Boston-based Allied recently wrested another film account, Universal Pictures, from Moroch. - Santa Barbara Banks Begin Agency Search LOS ANGELES--Pacific Capital BanCorp, Santa Barbara, Calif., has launched a search for an agency. The financial company runs three bank chains--First National Bank, South Valley National Bank and Santa Barbara Bank and Trust--in California's central coast, stretching from Monterey south to Santa Barbara. Pacific is looking for a strategically oriented shop to build a brand for its financial institutions. Billings were not disclosed. Select Resources International here is handling the search. - Thomas & Perkins to Handle Cellular One in West DALLAS--Thomas & Perkins was tapped to handle Cellular One's Western regional ad account. Western Wireless, which operates Cellular One in 19 states west of the Mississippi, awarded the $10 million account to Denver-based Thomas and its $3 million Hispanic account to SiboneyUSA in Dallas following a review. - May Consolidates Media at Doner CHICAGO--Doner was awarded May Department Stores' $100 million broadcast media planning and buying account following a review. The Southfield, Mich., shop already handles creative for the St. Louis-based department store chain. Contenders for the media business were The Glennon Co., St. Louis, which partnered with Carat North America; Janik & Associates, a Los Angeles-based agency that pitched with CIA Medianetwork; and Ward Communications, Dallas. Janik and Glennon previously handled buying for most of the 12 May department store brands. - The Phelps Group Lands Crystal Cruises LOS ANGELES--The Phelps Group was named online agency for Los Angeles-based Crystal Cruises, a luxury cruise line. The agency will redesign the client's Web site and simplify navigation. The new site is an extension of Crystal Cruises' extensive worldwide itineraries and two 940-guest ships, Crystal Harmony and Crystal Symphony.
