Spencer Stuart Account Worth $20 Mil.
NEW YORK–J. Walter Thompson has landed creative and media duties for executive recruiter Spencer Stuart, a global account with billings estimated at $20 million, sources said.
The Chicago-based Spencer Stuart selected JWT after a review that had been winnowed to JWT and Grey Advertising, sources said.
Two other undisclosed agencies also participated, according to sources. Grey officials could not be reached; JWT referred calls to the client, who declined comment, saying a decision had not yet been made.
Executives from JWT’s New York and Chicago offices–including New York president Bob Jeffrey–teamed up to pitch the business, according to sources. The agency took an integrated tack, touting below-the-line resources, including Digital@JWT and ThompsonConnect, its direct marketing arm, sources said.
With 50 offices in 24 countries, Spencer Stuart is among the world’s largest executive-search firms, according to Hoover’s Online. The 44-year-old company places top-level executives and board directors. It also provides management consulting services. Rivals include Heidrick & Struggles, Korn/Ferry and Russell Reynolds.
It is unclear which JWT office will service the account. One possibility: a joint effort combining the Chicago operation’s proximity and the breadth of resources at JWT’s New York headquarters.
The assignment is a significant rise in Spencer Stuart’s ad efforts. Competitive Media Reporting had no listing for the firm last year.
