The Volkswagen team at DDB Needham Detroit came up against this very issue in its efforts to nab Tom Skerritt, that Guess wearin’, Picket Fences sheriff’s badge carryin’, spokesmodel/TV star, who did voice work for two upcoming VW Passat GLX commercials.
Skerritt would almost always rather be in Seattle, his home base on most weekends when he’s not filming Picket Fences in L.A. So DDB Needham catered to him. All Skerritt had to do was show up at Seattle recording facility Bad Animals, where he was directed, via phone patch hookup, by DDB Needham Detroit’s production team. It was no sweat for the folks at Bad Animals, who are no strangers to the celebrity thing. The facility is owned by Steve and Debbie Lawson and rock group Heart members Ann and Nancy Wilson.
Regardless, the women in the office were star-struck by Skerritt, who that same week happened to be named one of People’s ’50 Most Beautiful People’. ‘He’s just as good looking in real life as he is on TV,’ said Bad Animal’s Kris Dangla.
