Pureskill, an entertainment, Web-based business focused on games and funded in part by The Walt Disney Co. and Walker Digital, is looking for a shop to handle its 2001 launch and brand advertising, sources said.

Stamford, Conn.-based Walker’s vp of communications, Christopher Dorval, confirmed Walker was an investor in the New York-based startup and that “a preliminary search for an agency is under way.” A Disney representative said the company does not comment on speculation about its investments.

Dorval declined comment on which shops were contacted and on billings, which are estimated at $30 million.

Sources said Pureskill contacted at least nine agencies, including Hampel/Stefanides, Margeotes|Fertitta + Partners, Kirshenbaum Bond & Partners, Gotham, Cliff Freeman and Partners, Fallon and DiMassimo Brand Advertising, all in New York, as well as Butler, Shine & Stern in Sausalito, Calif.
