RightPro Narrows Search to 3

LOS ANGELES—RightPro.com has narrowed its $15 million business-to-business and business-to-consumer agency review to Los Angeles shops Blackboard, 120 and Colby Effler & Partners. The three are set to make final presentations Sept. 11 and 12. The Culver City, Calif., company helps accountants, attorneys, therapists and other professionals market themselves. The site also gives the public access to the same professionals. A TV, print and online campaign will launch in the fourth quarter. Norbert Tan, vp of marketing/business development, said the company purposely did not seek out large, prominent shops. “We don’t want to be second fiddle to some big car account, but they have to have dot-com experience,” he said.

SAG/AFTRA Targets General Motors

LOS ANGELES—The Screen Actors Guild and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists announced this week their intention to target General Motors in their ongoing strike against advertisers. “As we approach Labor Day, SAG and AFTRA will be concentrating our activities against General Motors for the duration of this strike,” said SAG president William Daniels. SAG and AFTRA have picketed the Detroit headquarters of the automaker, one of the world’s biggest advertising spenders, as well as GM plants and facilities in Wisconsin and Portland, Ore. Last week picketers visited and leafleted GM auto dealerships in Arizona, California, Florida and New Jersey, among other states.

Church’s Chicken in Review Again

ATLANTA—A marketing executive for Church’s Chicken confirmed the Atlanta-based fast-food chain has contacted agencies about handling creative duties on its estimated $15 million account. Bayless Cronin in Atlanta has been invited to pitch the account, as have Publicis’ Dallas office and Levenson & Hill, also in Dallas. The incumbent, New York’s Cliff Freeman and Partners, will not defend.

Adlink Signs Comedy Central Show Sponsors

LOS ANGELES—Adlink, the nation’s largest cable interconnect, signed AT&T Wireless, Lowe’s and Round Table Pizza as sponsors of the second annual The Laugh Riots: Comedy Central’s Stand-Up Competition. The deal includes cross-channel exposure on the interconnect’s 40 networks.

Green Joins Soundbreak.com Advisory Board

LOS ANGELES—Former KABC talk radio president and general manager George Green, a well-known radio executive in Southern California, is going digital as the newest member of the board of advisers of Soundbreak.com.
