8 Vie in Main Game; 21 Go for Minority Marketing
DALLAS-The Texas Lottery Commission has released a list of eight contenders for its main advertising services contract, while 21 shops are competing and/or teaming for the first separate minority marketing bid issued by the state agency.
Because of the volume of entrants and the heavy load of bid queries that the client received, the lottery commission was forced last week to postpone-for the third time-its proposal deadline originally set for May 14. The new deadline is 4 p.m. today.
Those eligible to submit bids for the main contract are DDB, Square One, The Richards Group and Publicis, all Dallas; Fogarty Klein & Partners, McCann-Erickson Southwest and Ogilvy & Mather, all Houston; and Regian & Wilson Advertising & Public Relations, Fort Worth, Texas, according to a list provided by the lottery.
The commission has not yet established the contract amount for either the general market or minority contracts. The total marketing budget established by the state legislature is expected to fall between $30-40 million. Incumbent GSD&M of Austin, Texas, is not defending the business.
The minority marketing contenders listed are The King Group and Dieste & Partners (pitching with DDB), Ornelas & Associates, Siboney USA, KWGC Advertising and Uno Comunicaciones (with Square One), all Dallas; Houston’s Sachnowitz & Co., Sykes Communications, Gilbreath Communications and Lopez Negrete Communications (with Amistad Media Group of San Antonio); Bromley, Aguilar & Associates, Cartel Creativo and Inventiva, all San Antonio; HS&L/Tocquigny in Austin, Texas (pitching with Hadeler Sullivan & Law, Dallas, and Montemayor y Asociados, San Antonio); and Mithoff Advertising, El Paso, Texas. The commission did not disclose locations of minority contract contenders The Backshop, Mayfield & Harper Marketing and Urban Village Advertising. ƒ
