Facebook Introduces Sharing to Reels From Third-Party Apps

Partners at launch include Smule, Vita, VivaVideo

Last September, Facebook introduced the Reels format that originated on Meta sister application Instagram, and Tuesday, people gained the ability to share videos from third-party apps to Facebook Reels.

Once those third-party apps are integrated with the Sharing to Reels feature, a Reels button will appear in the apps, enabling users to share short videos, which they can then customize with Reels editing tools including audio, captions, effects, stickers and text.

Partners that have already integrated with Sharing to Reels include Smule, Vita and VivaVideo.

Director of product management John McCarthy wrote in a blog post, “Anyone can create a Reel on Facebook and become a creator on the global stage or just share them with friends and family.
