Alive Podcast Network launched Feb. 22 to amplify Black voices in the audio space.

The network, created by TEDx speaker and businesswoman Angel Livas, already produces two shows, The Devil is a Lie and Under Construction.

“You can go to one place and find a robust amount of content that speaks to the Black population,” Livas said in a statement.

Livas hosts The Devil is a Lie, a weekly show which started airing in December 2021 where guests talk about how they overcome internal battles like imposter syndrome and growing self-confidence.

Under Construction, produced by Livas, is hosted by five-time Emmy nominee Tamar Braxton. Under Construction centers its weekly conversations around mental health. It earned Livas a 2022 NAACP nominee for Best Lifestyle and Self Help Podcast.

According to Livas, there’s a trend in large corporations of controlling what Black podcast hosts say.

Other networks and partnerships are exploring amplifying Black voices in audio. For instance, iHeartMedia’ inked a partnership with radio host Charlamagne Tha God called Black Effect. The podcast network is specifically built for Black listeners. The network has grown by 400% with nearly 147 million downloads since its launch in 2020, according to Forbes.

The network’s shows can be found on all streaming platforms like Spotify, iHeart and Apple Podcasts.
