While most people were hoping for a more normal 2021, this year proved in many ways to be as tumultuous and unusual as 2020.

Advertising reflected this, too, as marketers attempted to offer an escape or antidote to real life events. Oatly got meta, a travel company made a freaky android the star of its campaign, Whiskas tried to de-stress cats and there was more than one ad about cannibalism, to name a few.
