YouTube Shorts is YouTube’s version of Instagram Reels or TikTok. The feature allows users to share short, vertical videos that can be viewed in the Shorts section of the YouTube mobile application.

When you record a Short within the YouTube app, you have the option to change the recording speed to record your clip in slow or fast motion. Our guide will show you how this works.

Step 1: On the YouTube Shorts camera screen, tap the “Speed” icon on the right side of the screen.

Step 2: Tap “0.3X” or “0.5X” to record your video in slow motion, or tap “2X” or “3X” to record a video that’s sped up by two or three times, respectively.

Step 3: Once you’ve selected your recording speed, tap the capture button at the bottom of the screen to record a clip as you normally would. When this recording is played back in the app, it will be slower or faster than normal, depending on the recording speed you chose.
