The caveman shows off some snazzy dance moves in this new Geico spot from The Martin Agency. Considering the brand’s past success with the cavemen advertising, one would expect that watching one of them dance around would be hysterical but this execution feels forced for TV. Shot against a white background, the caveman, outfitted in his disco finest, shows viewers his latest dance moves and explains in interspersed cuts, where he’s talking to the camera in his casual wear, “Baltimore is a great place to pick up dance moves.” He even talks about “jazz hands” and “the hustle,” great material for comedy, but the look and feel of the spot screams download, which of course is probably intended as it’s a showcase feature of dancingcaveman.com, where users can download their very own dancing cavemen to their desktops. But it seems dancing cavemen could have provided some pretty funny story lines if they were further developed as commercials rather than simply showcased as an Internet prize.–Eleftheria Parpis
