Status Envy can be Cured
More from our friend Kate Coe:
Public broadcasting’s own potty-mouthed pontificator, Sandra Tsing Loh, will be, well, pontificating on Status Envy: The New Depression at an LA Times-sponsored forum in August. Appearing alongside will be Meghan Daum who’ll reveal how her green-eyed obsession with Warren Buffett drove her away from Nebraska.
Director Nicole Holofcener is also on the panel, and there will, no doubt, be a remark that “Friends with Money” is really a documentary.
But since Sandra wrote in the latest Atlantic that her own mortgage is paid off — making her a anomaly in LA media circles — we wonder if she’ll finally tell the truth about just how hard it is to be an object of envy.
