New Yauker: Fellow Mathematician Says New Yorker Writer's Behavior 'Reminds Me Of Jayson Blair'
Professor Joel Smoller, via Dr. Shing-Tung Yau‘s letter to the New Yorker:
These [“major breakthrough”] papers [provided by Smoller to writer Sylvia Nasar, who co-authored the article Yau says defamed him] ALONE demolish your statement that Yau has had no major results in the last 10 years. How could you have made such a statement? Where did you get your information? Didn’t you feel a responsibility to check your facts with other mathematicians? Your behavior reminds me of the Jayson Blair scandal of the New York Times.
