Mother Jones has made significant changes to its editorial leadership team. Monika Bauerlein and Clara Jeffery, previously co-editors, will change roles to CEO and editor-in-chief, respectively.
The duo had been co-editors since 2006. Bauerlein joined the magazine in 2001; Jeffery in 2002.
Bauerlein will succeed Madeleine Buckingham, who is staying on as a part-time advisor. Steve Katz continues as Mother Jones publisher.
In other news, Mother Jones has added four staffers. Maria Streshinsky, previously the editor-in-chief of Pacific Standard is joining as deputy editor. Aaron Wiener, who most recently worked with Washington City Paper, has been named a senior editor in Mother Jones’ Washington bureau.
