Condé Nast Fooled Into Paying Eight Million to Scammer
Staffers at Condé Nast apparently need to read emails more carefully, because Forbes is reporting it paid a total of $8 million to a scammer who sent one single note to the company.
According to court documents, last November Condé Nast received an email from someone claiming to be Condé’s magazine publishing company, Quad/Graphics. The email asked Condé to send payments to a bank account number, and because somehow no one at Condé thought, “Hey, I should check this out,” the company began sending payments to the fake account.
