Bloomberg Donated $279 Million to Charities Last Year
Yesterday Slate published its “Slate 60” list, an annual compilation of the most philanthropic Americans, and our very own media mogul/mayor Michael Bloomberg came in second overall, by donating almost $280 million to various charities and causes.
Bloomberg spread that money out too, donating to over 950 different groups. Some of the more local ones included Alliance for Young Artists & Writers, El Museo del Barrio, Food Bank for New York City, Jewish Association for Services for the Aged, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, Metropolitan Opera Association, and the Natural Resources Defense Council.
