Ban On Airport Newspaper Racks Tramples On First Amendment, Rules Court
When the Raleigh Durham International Airport in North Carolina decided to ban newspaper racks throughout the airport, a group of U.S. papers including the Raleigh News & Observer, Durham Herald-Sun, New York Times, and USA Today decided to take it up with the courts. The airport explained that they had chosen to remove the racks because they posed a security threat, acted as an obstruction to traffic, and hurt revenue for airport stores and kiosks also selling newspapers.
