You have a legal obligation under the National Labor Relations Act to bargain with the Guild. Your refusal to bargain with us, while your final offer demands the removal of our members from our union, is unlawful and constitutes an unfair labor practice, and the charge that we filed is, as you are well aware, now being reviewed by the National Labor Relations Board in Washington, DC.

Your final offer would force some Guild members to lose their union protection, pension and overtime. Your demands would also cut all of our job protections, benefits, pay and fees, while at the same time providing salary increases of approximately .55 cents an hour, far below the industry standard at a time when we are all working harder to put out a quality news broadcast. In short, your demands are unacceptable.

Your refusal to meet with us even in an informal setting at our places of employment is disappointing. Your refusal to meet with us at the bargaining table is unlawful. We strongly encourage you to resume negotiations to settle this contract in a fair way for all parties, and in a way that does not infringe on the rights of all Writers Guild members at Disney/ABC.
