Weekly Jobless Claims Tick Up Again

Jobless claims ticked up by 8,000 to 480,000, pushing the four-week average to 468,750, an increase of more than 11,000 from the week before.

The number of people claiming emergency extended unemployment benefits (those who have exhausted their regular benefits) grew by 281,000 to 5.6 million.

In California and Michigan, thousands fewer people filed for first-time claims; California reported a decrease of 22,000 claims and Michigan reported 11,000 fewer claims.
