Weatherman’s Firing Brings Out Tsunami Of Social Media Support

If only we could all be this beloved: after New Haven, Conn.’s ABC affiliate WTNH didn’t renew the contract of popular weatherman Geoff Fox, his fans turned out in droves, reports Lost Remote.

“As the station promotes its weather team, it is being flooded with social media-delivered complaints about the station’s veteran forecaster. There is even a new “Keep Geoff Fox on WTNH” Facebook page which, as of this writing, has more than 7,500 followers. At Petition Spot, a “Save Geoff Fox-WTNH 8 Meteorologist” petition has more than 2,000 signatures.”

Fox had been with the station for 26 years.

On his blog, he thanks Facebook fans for their support as well as the fact that he’d “like to stay on-air in Connecticut, but all the good jobs are occupied by my friends.”
