washingtonpost.com Eclipses Previous Traffic Record

An internal note from washingtonpost.com’s Jim Brady, obtained by FishbowlDC:

I’m happy to report that washingtonpost.com set a new record for monthly page views in January. The combination of a huge news month and the launch of our new story page were key drivers, and the good news is that we saw traffic rise pretty much across all sections. Traffic to politics articles almost doubled, and unique visitors to politics increased almost 60 percent. Additionally, we had more video streams than in any other month since we started tracking that stat, and we also saw a 65 percent increase in photo gallery traffic.
