Vince McManhon Applies Chokehold to MMA
In an effort to boost his sport’s sagging ratings, World Wrestling Entertainment chairman Vince McMahon will give away $1 million of his own money to viewers during telecasts of Monday Night Raw, although he failed to say how or when the windfall would arrive. “People can view this as my own version of an economic stimulus plan to benefit our viewers,” McMahon told the Associated Press.
The move comes in part as a reaction to the increased popularity of mixed martial arts, which held its first prime-time special on network television over the weekend.
