Tom Zind Wins ASBPE 2010 Stephen Barr Award
Tom Zind is the recipient of this year’s Stephen Barr Award, presented by The American Society of Business Publication Editors (ASBPE), for his 2009 article “A Killer in the Ranks.” The piece looked into hazardous electrical systems and their impact on American troops in Iraq.
The judges praised Zind’s work, calling the report “chilling, not only because of the disturbing subject matter — the deaths of soldiers from clearly preventable electrical wiring flaws — but because of the way he combines terrific interviews, a clear description of the problem, and plausible solutions.”
