Today’s RSS Leftovers

Here’s what MJD passed on today:
– Yesterday the news came out that “Newsweek Tumblr guy” Mark Coatney was leaving to join Tumblr. Today, Coatney explains what exactly he’ll do at the online platform. “Basically my job is to introduce Tumblr to big media places and help them best use the service as a way to create and connect to their own communities,” said Coatney to Poynter Online.
– Former New York Observer editor and creative director of Conde Nast’s Traveler Peter W. Kaplan will become the editorial director of the Conde Nast’s Fairchild Fashion Group, which includes Women’s Wear Daily. Kaplan, who will replace Patrick McCarthy, says he has read Women’s Wear Daily since he was a boy and he wants to bring the paper home to a new generation of children who will read the news on their “iPads every night.”
The Wall Street Journal‘s managing editor Robert Thomsen is on Twitter, but it’s a secret account. According to PRNewser, the second-in-command won’t even tell his WSJ colleagues his Twitter name. Let the search begin.
The Washington Post finally launched its much anticipated, co-branded business page with Bloomberg News today. It comes eight months after the partnership was announced. You have to be registered to see the full articles, and includes both WaPo and Bloomberg business stories. Is it a match made in heaven? It sure looks promising.
