Think You’re Addicted To Twitter? Wrong. This Guy Was.

Larry Carlat’s Twitter obsession cost him his job.

We’ve heard tons of stories of the misplaced Tweet, the inappropriate social media contact that has gotten somebody canned, but Carlat’s story, as told in the New York Times Magazine, is different: he was given the opportunity to stop.

“My tweets were a clear violation of the company’s social-media policy. I had a choice: to delete the account or face termination.”

Despite the bad economy he chose to keep the account and lose the job.

There’s a happy ending to this story (sort of): though Carlat didn’t get his magazine job back, he got off Twitter….admittedly, because he said he was “burned out,” not because he realized his addiction was ruining his life. Oh well.
